String doesn't interest him and he is so picky that Temptations don't excite him either. Catnip is surefire though.
Ah now! Any cat who doesn't appreciate good seventies soul....

So there's this new girl at work and she seems cool and I was thinking that I'd probably chat her up a bit and if she still seems cool I'd invite her to hang out and stuff and then who knows...
But now it looks like I'll basically be her boss soon and I'm conflicted about all this.

It's Over.

Today, US megacorp transferred a quarter million dollars into our bank account and wired another quarter million over to the China factory. As part of the settlement we get to write off over a million dollars of debt off our books, making our bank extremely happy.

Personally, I get no big payout. Actually I get no payout. But we do get a 2.5% commission from here on out on the products that were stolen from us. Our sales were averaging about 6 million a year so that's $150K net profits, which at this point is pretty damn sweet considering the company is only 3 people and really has no overhead.

This has been going on for 2 years and 10 months and consumed easily over 5,000 hours of my time. Very surreal getting the news this afternoon that it's all behind us. Seriously did not know know what to feel.

Bad news? I can't retire a wealthy man.
Good news? I still have a job.

That's good. At least it's over and isn't daunting over your heads anymore.

Well done Chula. One less (huge) thing to worry about from now on. Cool.

Funny, my boss was also left not knowing how to feel too. He got an email from our lawyer and then had his wife check our bank account. When she confirmed that there was a $250,000 deposit he was left stunned. If the opposition had decided to keep fighting we would have probably run out of money in the next 4-5 months (it's been costing up to anywhere between $10K to $25K per month in legal fees).

Tally

Number of depositions attended: 9
Number of depostion hours: ~70
Number of legal conference calls: Uhm.... maybe 50?
Number of meetings at lawyers office: at least two dozen
Number of hours of sleep lost: a billion
Number of pounds lost: creeping up on 30
Number of pieces of paper needing to be shred: ~8,000
Number of times I'll post about this again: 3-4
