Just found out that my mom has published an academic paper and presented it at a conference in Washington DC. All these years and she never told me.
EDIT: Just looked it up. Good lord, Mom. It's been cited by 21 other papers just on Google Scholar.

Just received a call and learned that my oldest and dearest friend passed away last night. We'd grown up in the hospital together, and his humor and friendship made each day there a little brighter in what was a truly solemn period of my life.
I'm 35 and have never lost a friend before, save for my father who died of cancer. As an INTJ I'm quite perplexed how to feel and what to do. But I'm grateful for the friendships I still have and for all their love and support. I just needed to tell someone. Thanks for listening.
