I know that it really helped me realize how important it is to have a pretty bulky savings account. There were instances where I was happy that my parents taught me the importance of that. I would've been homeless without that knowledge.

yeah, same here. i mean, i get a pretty sweet deal since i'm living with my friends at a condo their father bought (lol) but it's still hard to make ends meet with my student loan money. i think for most people it's necessary to get a part time job if they want to even be able to attempt moving out while going to school.

With how high the rent is in Seattle now, it's not even wise to bother with part time. You either have to get full time, or be lucky enough to know a few people you can live with. The cheapest place in the city is like...1100/mo unless you find subsidized living which is where I used to be. Even that is close to 800/mo. With me and my ex, I was able to do it. But I'd never be able to on part time.

really depends on your area. you can find apartments anywhere from 25,000 to 150,000 dollars a year. maybe even more, something like that. depends on how many rooms/the location etc.

damn, that's insane dude. i know the prices out in BC are absolutely insane as well so it doesn't really surprise me considering the proximity.

Wait, 150,000? That's like...12,000/mo. Unless I'm doing my math wrong. Or is that salary for person?

Yeah. My mom is moving into a place and she'll be paying close to 2,000 a month for a one bedroom. Granted, it's in a nice area. But when I asked her about it, she said it's what the market is right now.
