I've always found Smithwick's to be a bit bland. My mum seems to drink it the whole time though.

I used to drink Foster's but pretty much all lagers taste the same to me (no wonder the English call them bitter!) and despite being Irish, and despite the fact that my mother loved it, I can't stand Guinness, or any other stout. I have had the odd Southern Comfort, but it needs to be nearly drowned in red lemonade, so probably what's the point? Drank it neat once, nearly choked me.

Smithwick's I actually like the taste of, probably one of the only beers that I do.

I used to drink Foster's for a short period. Mainly because it was the cheapest beer you could get on draft in my town. I wouldn't touch it now though.

It's called a Half and Half here. The name 'Black and Tan' wouldn't go down particularly well

Hearing Black and Tan reminds me of Psych

No. It's just poured with the utmost care to float the Guinness on top of the Harp, "oh ye of little faith of what your fellow Irish countrymen can do."

Then that is disgusting. I'm amazed the two brewers merged over a drink like that. Never heard of such a thing before, though of course I really don't drink. But Guinness with Harp? Yuck, even in my mind.
