What was he posting? Every time someone makes a thread in that section I just post a Merzbow video cause that section is worthless.

You can make fun of each other, call each other names, and what the **** ever, but leave the new people alone. It's pretty simple. Stop posting fictitious information in the Name That Tune threads. I didn't see your posts, otherwise I would have said something. I said something to Lucem, and he got belligerent. That's a one way ticket to banland.

They're not new people. I don't think I've ever seen anyone who's first post was in the Name that Tune section actually become a contributing member of the forum for any amount of time. Those people are functionally spammers. As far as I'm concerned if that section ever served a function that was useful to the actual forum then that time has long since passed.

So why should we give a **** about treating it seriously? Just to enforce rules for the sake of enforcing rules? To protect people who will likely only ever post once, and who almost never even thank us when we find whatever song they were looking for? **** that.

It's obviously within the mods' rights to enforce rules and to ban someone for noncompliance and abusive posts, but I think we need an unofficial double standard for that particular thread so that off-topic nonsense and non-abusive trolling is ignored. Cause who the **** cares?

I agree that that thread is a bit of a joke but you need to have some sort of structure, order, and rule system in place or else this place WILL devolve into Lord of the f*cking Flies type "fling your poop at the new person" type of site. I agree with what Plank did. Plus, I think the response was what cause this to happen in the first place. Your Merzbow joke is stale Bats. Progress yourself.

Driving already gives me a near panic attack by itself I can't handle a passenger telling me how to drive

I didn't get my DL until I was 22 for this reason and it's still the most terrifying thing I have to regularly do

Driving sucks man I know. I suck as well.

Not enforcing the rules to a small extent in one single section that everyone already agrees is pointless and would probably be removed if it were up to us would not cause any chaos. And telling someone posting in that thread to "**** off" for no good reason would still be actionable, just not goofing off at the expense of a drive-by noob.

And I post that video to drive off anybody who can't even deal with a few seconds of Merzbow or take a joke. I'm not really going out of my way for comic brilliance.

The worst part is there really isn't a way to avoid doing it lest you live in a more bike-friendly city. Living in the urban south, 30 minutes away from downtown I have no option to do so.
