It's an important distinction to be made.
"I'm not religious but I believe in *X*" or some **** that's not so vague, wishy washy, and self-absorbed (cause there's always the unspoken implication that being spiritual is more enlightened than being religious). I don't give a **** what you come up with, but "spiritual" needs to be removed from the English language.

You can be an atheist who appreciates some elements of various religions, but that's no reason to go around spouting the self righteous "spiritual but not religious" cliche.

There's nothing self righteous about it. You can have a spiritual belief but not be religious.

^This.

I feel like you two are just grouping them together like they are one in the same. The main reason I make the distinction is mostly to say that I don't attend church every Sunday or believe in the man made constructs related to religion(ie. holy texts, offerings)

Spirituality is just a chic word people use to distance themselves from religion.

Your ignorance to this topic is showing. There's a fine line between the two. You can have a spiritual connection with something and not believe in a higher power. Has nothing to do with religion.

Define spiritual connection then because I've never gotten a straight answer.
