Fairly upset and mildly panicked. Our electric bill this month was $62 after just four damn days (i'm terrified to see the balance now). This apartment is normally $80 for the whole month. We have no clue what's causing such a massive spike. Electric company told us to put in a service request...maintenance guy came and told us to call electric company back to check the meters. We're just going in circles and I have no clue what to do. A $300 electric bill for the month would be financially crippling at this stage

If the electric bill is a result of faulty lights or something to do with that's out of your control, you could report it and possibly not have to pay such a high amount. The apartment I used to live in did that, where if the apartment was using out of date light bulbs, they wouldn't charge you extra until the apartment complex put in energy saving light bulbs which became a standard at that complex.
