Hence taking a shower, scrubbing hard all over, cleaning yourself completely with hot water and soap, and then soaking in the bath. That's the only civilized way to bathe.

I understand the relaxation part, so taking a shower beforehand makes sense. I don't see it as a way to clean yourself though. May as well swim in mud.
