I just don't like the odds. But it all depends on how annoyed you are by talking to someone and immediately finding out she has the complex personality of a lamp post.
It's much more fun to meet women when you for example go out with friends, get to talk to a girl in your own or a different group without aiming to pick her up and are then able to evaluate her a little better.

That's how i met every girl ive been with, those kind of circumstances provide a more comfortable way to get to know them but i can't help to respect men who create that kind of opportunity without the need of such circumstances.

Funny we're talking about picking up women, just yesterday I worked up the courage to give my number to a hot cashier that I've chatted with a few times. Asked her if she wanted to go to dinner, got a positive response, aaaaand here we are

I mean it was sort of difficult leading up to it but once I handed her the number I was calmed down. Note that this is the first time I've asked any girl out in over five years as I was taken from age 16-21 :P
