The thing I find funny, is this. I gave you a partial story (while the rest of it) is elsewhere. Without knowing all of the facts of that situation, y'all made assumptions about my motives and such. Right or wrong is neither here nor there, but when you have a job to do, that must be done, you have to get your job done. Which this is exactly what the media, the govt, everybody wants you to do. Funny isn't it?

By the bye I don't give a **** if you agree with me arresting him or not. The job got done, charges were dropped, and he went on his separate way no harm no foul. And you can say oh I shouldn't have arrested him blah blah blah. He should have just signed my paperwork the first time I asked nicely.

My question wasn't really about your case specifically.

I'd like to reiterate this since I read your thread before I posted the initial question and agreed with your motives. It just seems to be a trend I've noticed where snark or douchebaggery is more of a crime than anything on the books. I've had a couple of friends detained for snark and nothing else.

Never be a dick to a cop, your doctors, or the people serving you food in restaurants.

This is America, I have a right to be a dick, it's in the first amendment.

Then suffer the consequences. I'll save my dickedness for when I'm drunk and on MB.

Well on the flip side - not saying they did or didn't - if they had committed a minor crime such as speeding or whatever, being a douchbag can always swing the cop to taking one step versus another. Again, I don't know the situation. In this case, quite frankly, he wasted my time so I wasted his. But more over, he signed my paperwork and the job got done.

I couldn't tell you, all I got was the one side of the story so who knows how reliable that is. Still, they should apply the law the same to douchebags and nice people alike imo.

Suffer the consequences of practicing my rights? I'm surprised that didn't get a chapter in Catch-22.

Yeah that's the thing, a lot of times law has a lot gray area and is left up to officer's descretion. Although your rights end where another's begin.
