I just found out that my mother does not know what a cracker is (i.e. the slang term for a white person). WTF?! How do you go through life without knowing what a cracker is? That's like not knowing what England is! I don't know how to proceed from here.

Say it's slang for close friend. Then she'll start calling all of her friends crackers. Wait, does she have any friends or is she a lot like you?

Is SHE a cracker?

Yesterday was my mom and dad's wedding anniversary (they've since split). So my dad took me to Toronto to "show me his old neighbourhood." We grabbed the best burger in town at a place on Danforth. While we were eating, I noticed a guy in a Beach Boys shirt walk by. Then Dad told me about how he and Mom saw Brian Wilson perform Pet Sounds when I was two months old, saying it was "probably the last chance he'd ever have to see him."

So we crossed the street and another Beach Boys shirt walked by. I chalked it up to coincidence. Then we got to this huge crowd of people, and my dad pulled out tickets and said, "Surprise, we're going to see Brian Wilson."

I almost fainted.

We were fifth row in a tiny venue (by Brian's standards)--only about 1500 seats. He played for two hours, but he must have done thirty songs--it was nonstop. Three from his new album, but the rest were classic Beach Boys hits. He didn't leave out a single song. Oh, and Al Jardine was there too.

My ears are still ringing and my voice is hoarse from all the cheering.

My dad is the coolest guy ever.

No, but he did "Wouldn't It Be Nice", "Sloop John B", and "God Only Knows" all in a row.
