the law tends to favor the word of an innocent-looking, crying young lady. in fact I think the officer who was helping me out with my statement was well aware that I was swooning, and complimented me many times on various things. he was a delight. I adore police officers. Never been hassled, always been able to count on them to show me the way to things and protect me when I needed it. Death is a bit harsh but something's gotta be done with that freak before he has the chance to kill/seriously injure someone else. Some people are just completely useless. Absolutely, completely useless.

Y'all need to seriously step off and cut the B.S. If it had of been YOU, you'd be experiencing the same feelings. You might not admit it, or even realize it, but you would be. If you are attacked, such as she was, it violates your sense of security and person. And yes, she was attacked. And you can't tell me you wouldn't be feeling that way or that you wouldn't be pissed either, because you would be. Male victims are often times more violent and on a statistical level feel more of their sense of security violated.

I had one (just one) male friend who was completely and absolutely furious that this happened to me. He identifies as a feminist and he's an all-around intelligent young man who I'm lucky to know. However, I told my story to the most important women in my life and EVERY ONE OF THEM was aghast, arms outstretched, telling me they were glad I'm ok. Even the officer I spent some time with told me that I'm lucky I didn't get punched in the face or knifed, because that does happen. In the back of every woman's mind (and at the forefront whenever we're being trailed or within close quarters of suspicious or brutish looking men) is the agonizing thought that we could easily be victims of crime because we're seen as easy prey. We can't let our guard down because something might happen to us. What was supposed to be a relaxing bus trip after 9 hours of running around a packed store on a major holiday sale turned into a traumatic event that's left me paranoid and reevaluating my transportation choices.

You can try to remain level headed all you like, but in the after math of anything such as this, the first thought that ANYBODY goes to is "kill the fucker!". I highly doubt that she would seriously now kill the guy in cold blood. Anger tends to taint the water like food coloring. In fact, had of it been a male victim he would have probably tackled the guy and kicked his rear end right on the street.

I'm dismissing your reaction not because nobody has ever tried to mess with me (by the way, I don't understand why you don't think people think they can get away with stealing stuff from me or assaulting me or whatever - I'm a 15-year-old who walks with a slight but noticeable limp, I'm slightly shorter than average and I'm seriously underweight. I'd be a very easy target), but because I don't think that having such a callous attitude toward other people's lives ought to be acceptable, nor do I think that casually using ableist slurs because you don't like somebody ought to be acceptable. If you don't see valuing the lives of humans as "sensible" (yes, even humans who tried to steal somebody's purse once when they were kids), then I don't think we have anything else to talk about. |

I'm a "piece of filth" for being angry with a punk ass kid for thinking he's entitled to whatever's in my purse? Have you ever touched a woman in your entire life? Because I feel sorry for them for being graced with the presence of something so disgusting.
