Jen,

I got your package, the boys really loved the home made cookies & brownies. We broke in the deck of cards real good last night, played until the sun was peaking out over the horizon. In hindsight, it probably wasn't a great idea because after chow we went out on patrol. Sure glad to here Betsy had the babies. Hope they're happy & healthy. Chow here sucks, it ain't nothin' like your biscuits, sure makes me miss home.

Love,
T

Jen,

It's nice to hear from you again, it's been a while. I hope it was the mail service, those boys ain't worth a hoot anyways. Glad to hear your pops is feeling better, I know y'all were real worried for a bit there. Remember that night I brought you home three hours after he said to be home? Man, he peppered my tailgate that night. Hope to hear from you soon.

Love,
T

Jennifer,

It's been a while since I heard anything from you. I'm doing okay, nights are real lonely. We pass the time making jokes and playing cards. I've found that if we're loud enough, the random pop-fire is drowned out. You with child? That's hard to imagine. What does your old man think of it? I wanted you to know that I kept your letters in my breast pocket, right next to your picture. They keep me going when I'm scared and lonely.

Jennifer,

It's been two months since I got a letter from you, I had begun to think you'd forgotten about me. How you doing? I'm pretty good, rumor has it the unit is about to be stood down. I could be home before the Summer. But don't get your hopes up, I never do.

Those were from my first deployment, talking to the mother of my kid, although at the time I had no idea that it was my kid. We had agreed to see other people while I was deployed. Figured I'd add that to clear up some confusion.

Wild trip down memory lane, that's for sure. Guess I wouldn't mind sharing a couple of the letters, if y'all were interested.

Share em.

EDIT: Oh f*ck, you did.

You can sorta see how we had drifted apart. After that last later, I didn't get any more from her. I have a few more, but they're longer and would take more time to type out.

Ya, bittersweet stuff.

Also, it's the images in the randomness that he didn't plan that make them great to look at. I see new stuff all the time.

lol... alright i'm not trying to bring you down if you really like it. do your thing.
but i look at it and see absolutely nothing worth taking a second glance at tbh. i'm sort of jaded about it i guess... it reminds me of my ex gf who went to art school and tried to convince me that when her classmate painted a canvas solid red it was somehow a statement worth taking the time to appreciate. i mean i can appreciate that art comes in many forms... but to me this kind of **** is artistically on par with one of shanaynay's nail jobs.

Shanaynay's like my third favourite painter though.

forgive me if I doubt that your ex's classmate and shanaynay's artistic expressions are on par with Jackson Pollock's, and I'll forgive your jadedness of all of the above

So someone I know has passed away, not sure if he ODed or took his life another way, but he definitely was involved with heroin. I see so much of this drug everywhere here.
