^Thanks BF.
I got a call a few days ago from a friend of a friend. Apparently, I played guitar with this person, who is a friend of the singer of the K|S|P Project, and he asked me to play at his birthday party with him, where I'd be doing lead guitar duties. I said I'd think about it since I had no recollection of ever meeting the guy. So, last night he was frantically blowing my phone up (because someone else backed out at the last minute) and I finally answered it. I had to ask him just who the hell he was again, and he tried to explain it, but I still don't have a clue. Anyway, I told him to send me a playlist (which he did), and I'll be there ready to play. My dilemma, is that I really don't feel like doing this. Now, I have a list of about 20 songs, most of which I have played before but would have to sit down and learn again, which is quite a few hours of studying, and the rest are songs that I really can't stand listening to, let alone sitting down and learning them. I'm not a professional musician. I have no obligation to do this, other than me telling him I'd show up. If I do this, I probably won't be ready with the entire list, and will more than likely falter on a good percentage of them, but I'll fake my way through it. Also, it's in a bad part of town, and I'll have to be my own roadie, which is never fun.
What would you do?
Keep your word and do the gig?
~or~
Blow the whole thing off?
