Anyone like to hear what I'm dealing with at work today? No? Wait... there's someone with their hand up way in the back. Ok then.

Been working on a mockup submarine fire trainer for the last couple of months. I've designed it, created the overall fabrication drawings for the structure, and am now working on the fabrication/design drawings for some of the component props. I have 3 facilities for municipalities located across the US that need some further design work, and this morning I received an email requesting fabrication drawings for one that will be in production in the next few weeks. I reworked part of one of our sister company's websites as requested by our HR department, and have to do a few updates for our main website when I get time. All this while I clear up a corrupt login on one of our sales reps PC.

Is it time to go home yet?

What programs you using? I work with Solidworks for 3D modeling. I then use it to create the basic 2D views and dimensions which then get exported into a PDF file which I further edit using Illustrator.

(be happy to be so busy! It's been super slow around here lately and further cuts are going to be made)

Since 1990, after being on the board for a year or so, I've used Solidworks, ProE, Unigraphics (now called NX), Microstation, and a handful of other CAD programs like BrisCad, but for this job I'm on vanilla AutoCad. It's just easier to keep things simple for what I do here as far as CAD work goes. I helped to start the company 8 years ago, and setup the CAD department on a shoestring budget. I still keep things very low cost, which is why we're still in business. Everything I design is done in 3D first, then I pull the solid profiles, and work them into fabrication drawings all in AutoCad. I package everything up in PDF form for the clients. That's just part of my job here though. I also do some programming in Lisp/.NET for some automation processes in AutoCad. I guess my formal title would be CAD Manager/IT Manager/Marketing Manager, and all around swiss army knife of the company. I do all of the proposals, fabrication drawings, technical drawings, patent drawings, company standardization's, logo's, magazine ads, brochures, websites, trade show banners, IT purchasing, IT consulting, and PC repairs.

Here's a sample of something recent. I can't really divulge anything about this other than a picture:

I am one busy mofo, so letting me go would eliminate quite a few jobs all at once. Hope you're safe there at your job though, Chula man.

Welp... pretty sure the interest is mutual between Sonya and I. Blablabla. Nervous about stupid stuff. We basically just bantered all day about music while working and there was some tension n I'm pretty sure the rest of the staff were snickering at us. Or me. Or something. Or I'm trippin. How's that Smiths song go again? 'I know that windswept mystical air/it means I'd like to seize your underwear'? Yeah. Either that or I'm just trippin and she's bein friendly. Could barely keep things in their place down there it was a struggle not gonna lie. Gonna see if she wants to catch a show with me and extrapolate what I can from that if it ends up happening... Can't get her outta my goddamn head. She's so pretty.............

Nice Plank! Unfortunately I can't post anything since we're under NDA with all of our customers.

Non Disclosures are a part of our contracts too, when they become contracts. The image I posted has no legal bindings as of yet. Besides, my boss already plastered it all over his facebook page saying "This is my latest design". I called him out about that kind of crap in front of everybody at the office xmas party. Basically he handed me a sketch on a napkin that looked worse than a kindergartner, and I made it a reality. I get no respect man. No respect.
