Essential viewing for all musicians.
It really is reassuring when a very low budget movie comes along with next to no advertising, no hype, no big name actors, and relatively niche subject matter, yet it still unanimously blows minds, regardless of whether or not the viewer can directly relate to the subject matter. The entire movie rests upon the acting chops of J.K. Simmons and Miles Teller, and they both do an incredible job.

Spent the weekend visiting family in the Central Valley with my sister. I visited with my 94 year old great grandmother who's on her last legs right now, and got to know a little bit about her life and stuff. Didn't get to know too much because mentally she comes in and out, but I did find out about my grandfather and great grandfather who both died before I was born. Also got to spend a lot of time with my uncle, who took and edited the picture I put up in the gallery recently and that was great because we're cut from the same mold. I also went to go see Interstellar and quite a few parts blew my mind and I was regrettably sober when I saw it.
Now I'm on the 8 hour train ride back home and little sis is already at a 10 on the moody bitch scale. Yay, fun times ahead.

Yesterday was my brother's 28th birthday. The politically correct term would be to say it WAS his 28th birthday, but I enjoy saying he turned 28. It's been 64 days without him, but Whatever realm or "heaven" he's in, I'm sure he's doing well for himself.

You appear to be taking his passing pretty well, good for you man.
My day started with a surprisingly mild hangover for having drank about 10 cocktails in the course of 2 hours. And a few beers here and there in between. And then I was an hour late to work. And nobody really came in all day... we made less than what it costs to keep the store open and pay me for the day.

This afternoon I enjoyed overhearing a conversation in which one of my coworkers was going on and on about how amazing Jet Li is and how he's such a chip off the old block of his father, Bruce Lee. Earlier, this same coworker had repeatedly referred to Philip Seymour Hoffman as "Philip Morris".

Both Asian. Both masters of martial arts. Both star in movies showcasing mastery of martial arts. Both have an extremely common last name that sounds the same. Clearly related bro. Clearly related.
