I hear things are ridiculously expensive there. But apparently the exchange rate is pretty good from CAN to USD? In my parent's town everything is actually really cheap (for instance, my baby sister, age 20, just moved into her own apartment and her rent is like $550/mo and it's not even subsidized housing) so I can understand why they'd travel down there, buy a ton of shit, and head back home. They always need to keep their receipts for customs - if it's one thing I remember about dealing with travelers, it's that.

The exchange rate used to about the same, but our dollar's dropped down to $0.86 now. Winnipeg is honestly one of my least favourite cities on earth. Besides being the most bland city in Canada, it's one of the roughest. Then again, I dislike the Prairies in general, so I'm biased.

Spent three days in Calgary once. Pretty much Texas with snow.

Thing about Canada is that BC, Ontario, Quebec, the Maritimes, and (some of) Alberta are all breathtakingly beautiful, but the Prairies and the Territories cancel it out.

Sounds an awful lot like NW Minnesota. There's really nothing but farm land and trees for miles and miles. Takes about 5 and a half hours just to get to Minneapolis from where I grew up. It's such a drag, everywhere. Stuff's cheap and the historical buildings are beautiful but there's no way in hell I'd want to live there again.

Gross, dude. Are people ... um... kind of backward in Calgary?

My good friend is from Winnipeg. He said it's shit, especially with all the First Nation slackers.

It's not a safe place to be out alone at night, from my visiting experiences. There are a lot of drunks. And not to be racist, but yeah, a lot of the drunks are Natives.

Good news: found the cat's owner and returned him.

Bad news: dude keeps the cat (probably closer to a kitten) outside all the time, doesn't seem to be giving it much, if anything, in the way of veterinary care, and really doesn't seem to be taking care of it very well in general.

I have "liberated" the cat. His name is now Wade.

Already did earlier in the thread. The best I could do with a laptop camera...
