I agree.

Charlie, not that I actually wanna know, but what were you doing when you weren't here? Don't ya miss it, whatever it was? Wouldn't you like to get back to doing that, TODAY? It's gotta be more interesting than us worthless souls like Meg winning scholastic achievements and earning degrees and scholarships and so forth.

Well said. Charlie, Meg or others like her might be your boss one day.

So yesterday I met up with one of my military friends who was taking a long enough break to start smoking weed again. The evening and jam session went well and it seemed like everything was in order. But today I got a call from my friend whose house we were playing at saying that his neighbour came to his door with two mic stands, a saxophone, and a pair of bongos. Apparently, our newest addition loaded a bunch of our **** into the neighbour's car which looks a lot like the Corrola we rode in on.

**** potentially could have been stolen (like my sax) but I find it too funny to be angry about it.

Oh, bugger off.

It was a nice surprise for two years' worth of hard work. It was unexpected, and I would've worked just as hard whether I knew there was an award at the end of my academic session or not.

I fail to see how the acknowledgement of my hard work is doing anything to make me stupid; it's an academic achievement award. It's a thumbs up, a notice from my institution that my hard work is acknowledged, and that's a nice little energy boost going into the university next year.

You seem to presume that my hard work was on behalf of this medal, or that my self esteem derives from it, or even that I think myself intrinsically more valuable than others as a result of receiving it; all of these ideas are far off-base. The simple fact of the matter is that I worked extremely hard, and I am proud of that hard work.

Hard work is something to be proud of, it's something to be valued, and it's something to feel good about, regardless of the domain you do it in.

Both items will be going to my mother, because she is likely to find them more meaningful than I do.

EDIT: And for the record, I do love what I'm doing. I love learning, I love thinking, and I love knowledge.

Yeah Mr. Charlie, it's cool to have opinions and all but it's kinda cock-suckerish to rain on someone's parade like that. It's like if I were to butt my head into a church meeting and tell them god isn't real. Just rude, dude, even if I get where you're coming from and in a way agree. Keep it in mind though.

Congrats Pedestrian, sounds like you really earned it!

Also I am missing skin in various places. ****in sunburn. Couldn't resist peeling it all.

Shit day. I've been waiting to hear from a potential employer, stressing about money, and spending hours fighting with one of the neediest and hypersensitive people I've ever known. To top it off my favorite uncle had a serious heart attack and is in the ICU in a medically induced coma, potentially with massive brain damage. And what am I doing? Whining about it online like a little bitch, how retarded is that?

Eek, sorry to hear about all that. Sounds stressful. Really though, just about everyone here whines on this forum. It's like a group therapy sesh here sometimes. We're here for each other. S'all good.

Today was my first day back at work after being told to take a week off for showing up with a busted lip and swollen knuckles. Listened to Dillinger Four all day and wondered why I haven't been hearing back from anywhere I've dropped off resumes and applications, how I'm gonna pay for new glasses, and how I'm gonna get outta this city.

I've had too much caffine. Doesn't make me feel great, I'll have to gulp down a whole lot of water.

On another note, what do you guys think this object is in my picture? I took it a couple of days ago because I liked the clock tower which I hadn't noticed until then. It's just odd that in one picture it was there and the other it wasn't:

Spoiler for big pic:
