Please help me with my awkward connection into groups. I intend to go after the other new guy, because he's likewise impaired, but I wanna seem interesting. I know there's a billion things I could include. But I just want him and me to come off swimmingly so that my coach doesn't panic and call a team meeting.

Thank you. But my description of myself in groups tends to be like: "Uh. I like pretty much everything. I do, uh...pro wrestling on the side. I like music. Like all music. If you've ever liked music, I'll know it. Uh...I play basketball, sometimes. And baseball. I was scholarship softball for Morehead State, but I screwed it up. I want to get my degree in broadcast journalism, but I'd really rather just learn the hard way. I play guitar and stuff, but I'm not that...good."

I tend to crack jokes when I've introduced myself. I usually just say "Hi, I'm Hermione. I'm a dominatrix"

Then they have no idea if I'm serious or not so that's half the fun (being that I actually am a dominatrix)
Maybe try something like that? THen you have an out if you get subtle cues that they don't think your joke is funny, haha

Like, "Hey, I'm Sara. I'm way into not being your weekend arrest record..."
