Had my last final today, thus ending my first year of college. I celebrated by staying home, smoking and drinking enough to burn off whatever I've learned, and I watched my three favourite films: Begotten, There Will Be Blood, and Eraserhead. All of my friends are still completing finals though, so I'll be doing a real celebration on Friday night.

Today was my 23rd birthday, celebrated with family yesterday though. But I had a real nice birthday dinner with just my boyfriend and we only got back like an hour ago. Overall it was a splendid day :D

Ate an entire box of strawberry candy, waited for art supplies to come in the mail, refilled gallon jug of water, applied cats' acne shampoo, etc (w/ them), and had a zero red bull. Time to clean out their ceramic sculpture fountains...

Yesterday and today were the awkward beginnings of assimilating into a new group and trying not to feel like an outcast.

I know a few people on my new team, but they're mentors, and thus rarely there because of their obligations to perform mentor duties, i.e. help assist new people. I've struck up minor kinships with the people sitting around me, but it's not the same as going out on break and sitting down at a picnic table, which was immediately filled to capacity with eight people I was friendly with, and at least three people hovering because there wasn't room to sit down. Now, our breaks do not coincide, and I'm forced to do the awkward, "Hey, can I sit here?" and try to make conversation with people I don't know (who know each other well) whilst feeling horribly out of the loop.

As an aside, there's a guy who just started on the team the same day I did, and I'm definitely, on Friday, going to start chatting with him so that it's two people who aren't completely uncomfortable trying to work their way into the group.
