Yesterday I applied to a local super market for a part time position as a stock boy. There was an open position for an "Apprentice Meat Cutter" or something like that, and I figured that I didn't know anything about that so I didn't apply for it. Now I'm wondering what I was thinking. That actually sounds kinda cool.

At least where I am...being as I am in groceries...meat cutting highest paid... stock not so much..go with meat cutting...

yep... right ok... well they are not competition for the chain I work for... I have actually never heard of them... but check out the benies what they give you after you have been there 90 days and so forth... if it is something you are into go for it...at least with my company you kinda have to either be in the right place at the right time or know people to get in...I gotta tell you I have been there 3 years and I have no complaints other then I work a lot, and sometime my coworkers get on my damn nerves.. I don't even care that I wear a hairnet... they pay me handsomely and I get a raise every 6 months, a retail bonus every 3 months, medical dental and 2 weeks paid vacation, and where as I am testing in a couple weeks for management I will get a **** load more perks for working 55 hours a week max...so what the hell why not?

Just had a damn scary experience with a lamp. It's hooked to a remote on/off control for my sis and when I switched it on for the night the bulb ****ing exploded! Tiny shards of glass everywhere! It shook us up, I can tell you!

Question: are there any safer lamps anyone knows of? LED maybe, something without a standard bulb? I think it was the bulb that was at fault and if possible I'd like to ensure this doesn't happen again. We're thinking of getting her a standard lamp instead of a desk one like she had --- more robust, can stand well away from any danger proximity area --- but any suggestions certainly welcome.
