So I went to this baby shower I was dreading and I am kinda glad myself and my boss went....because if we hadn't there would have been a total of four people there... (no one likes this girl...) but being the person I am I dragged my heels and went bitching and moaning and now I feel good...because at least some one was there... and I am drunk as a skunk so disregard my spelling......

Happy Birthday, Fluffy Kittens!

Hope it is/was a freaking awesome one.

Today, I had a lot of downtime at work, so I played rummy with the girl who sits next to me. At break, I was fiddling with my cards, and talking about how I wished I was better at card tricks, and just demonstrated some really simple card forces without actually doing a trick per say. Everyone at the table was transfixed and all, "HOW THE **** DID YOU DO THAT?!" so, even in the context of being like, "This is an illusion, and an easy one at that. Basically, if the trick is blah blah blah, then I just shuffle, and there's a basic force in here..." then presenting the first card is still pretty impressive. I think I may actually do some actual card tricks in the smoking area tomorrow. That could be fun.

Also, I never actually showed them HOW to do the forces exactly. I just said it was a simple force, and then demonstrated how it looked in the context of a trick. So I guess I was technically doing tricks, but under the guise that I was demonstrating, if that makes any sense, haha.

Basically, just a lot of false cuts, Hindu cuts, and your run-of-the-mill gravity force is all that I used. And I'm no expert, by any means. I've just been bored and fooled around with cards a lot since I was around 14.

I've actually been more interested in coin tricks lately, but I'm not good enough at any of those to use them.

Do you know any zippo tricks? I've been wanting to learn a few, I only know this one.

No Zippo tricks, but I know a few cigarette tricks.

I seldom, if ever, have a Zippo, so my time fiddling around with those isn't significant.

That trick is cool as hell, though.

Edit: The coolest thing I can do with a lighter, which seems to impress people, is open a beer with a Bic with little to no effort.

So I just came back from my first MeetUp meeting with an group for introverted people. I had a great time, I met a couple of really cool people but had to endure this one real piece of work. Basically he's one of those guys that thinks pyramids were built with some kind of anti-gravity device, but he literally scoffed at the notion that two adults could enjoy fantasy novels involving vampires and werewolves. It was one of those really perplexing scenarios where you're thinking to yourself "dude, what's your damage?" Luckily nobody bought into his drivel and he promptly shut up and then just left after about an hour. He was wearing a really stupid biker skullcap proclaiming his dislike of helmets and perhaps that explains it.

Glad you had a predominately good time! And I've always considered skull caps, du rags, what-have-you in place of helmets to be a form of natural selection; if you're too ****ing daft to protect your head on a motorcycle, you're not a noteworthy addition to the gene pool.

Thanks. It was a little weird at first because that's how the meeting got started off and I was just sitting there thinking what have I gotten myself into, but one of the women of the group managed to stop the conversation in that special way middle aged women can sound condescending yet sincere at the same time. Next meetup is a games night where I'm introducing everyone to Munchkin so fingers crossed they take to it.

It's the weekend. I love the weekend.

Also, I'm going to have to break the news to someone who believes in me that I can't get something done.
