Yep, I've heard this too - my boyfriend has been to China and said all the authentic food was just unappetizing. I think that the food has just been "Americanized" to appeal to the market here. I'm also pretty sure that the popular takeout product of Chow Mein doesn't even exist in China.

He also said that Serbian food here is pretty damn close to the real thing, which is good I guess because then he can eat stuff that he really likes.

Unknown Soldier, WTF! The greasy, goopy, salty mess of fish and chips is the absolute best thing ever. Throw in some tartar sauce and a lemon and you have yourself a real treat!!

That should be against health and safety.

I loves me some Chinese food as well. A trip to the local Chinese buffet is one of the best way to cure some munchies.

I always find that after eating a big Chinese meal, a few hours later I'm hungry again, whereas with Indian it has done the job and I'm full for several hours.

Now I'm really craving some foreign cuisine... I think the best ones here are:

Serbian
Indian
Chinese
Middle Eastern/Arab
Japanese
Italian
Greek
French
Thai
Mexican

Alright, pretty much everything lol.

Pretty much the same as mine. The Middle Eastern Arab is going to be similiar to Turkish based on what I've tried. Serbian I have no idea, but Greek I'm not a huge fan.

Serbian food is similar in a lot of ways to Greek - of course they are both Balkan and have a long history together with the Byzantine and Ottoman empires, so there are similarities across the board. And of course there are also similarities with Turkish food as well.

I like burek, I recommend the cheese filled kind. Its really good phyllo pastry that is usually always eaten with yogurt. I also like Proja, which is just a simple bread but it tastes great, and desserts like Krempita (like a custard pie) and Sampita (which is like a marshmellow type of filling on a phyllo crust).
