Summer is ended and the new semester has begun. I'm taking mostly online classes this semester, and lo and behold, my internet goes out yesterday. I'm now sitting in a Starbucks ignoring my schoolwork like an idiot.

Also, have been able to listen to close to no music lately. Hopefully now that I'll be spending copious amounts of time on the computer studying, that will end.

Got back a couple days ago from playing a fest in upper middle Michigan. Great people, weather, food, scenery. I brought my PRS, a Roland Micro Cube, and my Washburn Nylon. One of the best guitar playing moments I've ever had was sitting by a meadow, and playing in time with the sounds of nature. Very spiritual.

I didn't wanna leave, but I'm actually happy to be back at the grind. Lots of catching up to do.

I get Fridays off. HOLLA!

I'm off on wednesdays, so I'll be one of those people who drink at the beginning of the week, alone.

Edit: what kind of complete arsehole gives you a Wednesday off. ****s.

I've just got 1 class on Mondays and Wednesdays 7 pm to 8:15 pm. Doesn't interfere with my work or gym schedule, I'm pretty happy about that. It is way across town though, which is kind of annoying, but fortunately it's right off a freeway offramp.

Get my AS level results back tomorrow... I really really don't want them at all, it's going to be a depressing repeat of last year where I swagger up secretly expecting top grades in everything and being disappointed. It sounds ridiculous, but I keep having nightmares about getting C's in everything, which would be disastrous at my college.
Thankfully my Dad's being really nice about it, very kindly abstaining from those "if you don't get three A's you're getting sent straight back to the hotel in Glasgow where I found you as a baby" jokes dads tend to like.

Do what I always do, expect disappointment and failure, and then when you get your grades back and you didn't fail you get to feel good for not failing, and if you managed to do really well you get to feel even better. If you did fail then you didn't build yourself up to any great height only to be knocked back down. Seriously, pessimism is a very underrated mindset.

Quite true, that's the reason behind my disappointment last year - the fact that I was predicting for myself (quite unwisely) an extremely ambitious target, I was going to be unimpressed if I got it and hit for six if I did not. Although I suppose coping with subsequent failure is an altogether different problem.
