Another long day, but it was productive at least. I learned that the Texas Secretary of State's office are dicks and rejected a filing I submitted a few days ago because of an error on their fucking document! Luckily that got sorted out nice and easy with just a quick phone call, but they did seem a bit peeved that I thought to suggest that blame rests squarely on them.

I also found out that my brand new car battery might have a dead cell because I'm only getting 12 volts when I check it on my volt reader. I'd like to do a battery load test, but I don't have the device to do it. Might yank it out of my Jeep later and take it down to the nearest Autozone and have them do it for me. I really am not anticipating my next encounter with my mechanic, but I do need him to answer a few questions. Regardless of his answers I'm finding a new one, but if he did shoddy or incomplete work then he's going to finish his end of the deal.

I've also learned just how abysmal my math skills have become, and will have to cram like hell this week to have any hope of testing into a college level math class for this coming semester. It's probably not a bad idea to go back and do the pre-requisite classes, but I only need 3 more credits to graduate and the idea of spending an extra semester or two for that just kills me. Oh well, if I have to end up taking them, it will at least lead to an easy semester.

You might be okay since brand new car batteries normally read 12 or 13 volts.

I should be at anywhere between 12.4 and 12.6, but I'm just barely getting to 12 when I check, usually I'm around 11.8 or 11.9 which is well below what it should be. I've got brand new terminals too so it's something else. I've even driven it around a little bit so it can charge up but still nothing.

Not good. I suppose I'm fortunate that, in all the time I've ordered things via the internet, this is the first time I've ever been scammed.

Tshirtville - don't ever use them, they're a bunch of crooks. Spread the word, far and wide and let's get these bastards off the internet.

If anyone knows of any decent, honest sites where I can pick up a 'Cause of Death' t shirt then by all means let me know, because I certainly ain't getting one from these f*ckers.

Your alternator or a Voltage regulator? Take the car to an autozone and have them test the alternator. It should charge at 13.5 to 14.5 to insure your battery stays charged. Also maybe the battery has a dead cell. I had a battery that actually charged above 12 and when it was tested it had a dead cell in it. Its quite possible its the battery.

Well I just put a new alternator in a few weeks ago so it damn well better not be that or my mechanic is going to feel the wrath... of a very stern talking-to.

How old is the battery? I'd get that tested then if the alternator is new. I replaced an alternator and voltage regulator on a car that had an external regulator only to discover it was the battery the whole time.
