Ah yes, one of the main networks is down and for those affected, life ceases to exist.

Reminds me of that South Park episode where the internet doesn't work. ****in' hit the nail right on the head with that.

Welp, the job I was trying to get has already hired someone else. Procrastination got me. Had I sent my resume' when I first heard about the opening, I'd probably have it. The owner has my resume' on file, though, and said there may be an opening for a computer network specialist in several months.

In the mean-time, I applied for a state government job at a local university hospital as a senior network administrator. The pay is pretty good... between 50-100K a year. The only thing is I don't have a 4 year degree, which is one of the requirements, but I applied anyway, because that position has been open so long and I'm hoping they get desperate.

Also, about to call in to another lead I got from a professor for an IT manager at a bank. I'm qualified, but the job is 20 miles away. No matter, though, I'll travel if the price is right.
Wish me luck, folks!

Good luck man, I hope you get the hospital gig, that sounds pretty sweet.

So far I'm dealing with a pretty nasty hangover brought on my being invited to a pre-opening party of a bar down at the end of my block. Public opening is on Saturday, but the place was pretty packed last night. It's a golf themed bar, which is kind of lame, but it means the girls are all running around in sweater vests and plaid skirts so it's not all bad. It's got a pretty cool atmosphere, set up more like a lounge complete with a piano, but sadly the player didn't know any Tom Waits songs. Oh and the drinks were free last night... so I took advantage of that, then stumbled home.

I've gotten some decent (required degree) jobs I've applied for with no degree, but showed them I had the skills, just not the sheepskin. You may just get your foot in the door. Good luck!

That's what I'm hoping for. I know that being an IT manager doesn't actually require a sheepskin at all... just enough experience to do the job. In my case in particular, I have documented, government proof of my experience, and the job is a government job, so maybe that will make a difference.
But I'm not banking on it.

Speaking of banking, I just called the bank about their IT manager position. As my procrastination would have it, I waited too long. (In my defense, I was trying to get all my sh*t together before casting the net)
But the guy said their applicant hasn't come in yet, and until someone walks through the door, the job is still open... so I sent him my resume' anyway. Hopefully I get a call!

Went on a second date with that girl last night. She looks like a scene girl, which is incredibly unfortunate, but her love of hardcore punk and indie rock makes up for it. In her words, "I like shows where people get hurt." That has been her at least a few times. I definitely got some respect for that. She's also a guitarist and a very good singer, which are huge plusses for me. She understood what I meant when I said that Cage The Elephant's singer is like the reincarnation of Iggy Pop. She is the first woman I have met in real life to get that.

Too bad she lives forty-five minutes away from me. :/

My wife and I lived two and a half hours apart when we started dating. Two and a half hours by plane.
