So I had a job interview at some ****e local dollar store type place. The guy noted I had 6 years of cashiering experience (and I didn't even include my first job, where I was a cashier at a theatre). So he tells me everything looks great and he would probably call the next day. He didn't. He finally called today and told me to come down in 30 minutes and take training on the computer. I get there, and he doesn't recognize me. I remind him he just called me and he told me he made a mistake. He didn't mean to call me. So I could go home now. Weird/disappointing/angering.
I guess he hired some young goober with no experience? I don't get it. |

My theory is that I'm from California, and the folks up here in Idaho don't seem to take kindly to Californians. I think I got ousted on the fact that whoever else applied has lived here his/her whole life or some such. This is a small town of 2,500. They really do look down on Californians here. I've applied at every gas station and retail store in this city (whole lot of 9 or 10 places) and that place was the only place to even call me in for an interview. My friend thought I'd be a shoe-in for a retail job up here because no one has 6+ years of retail experience here and most of these people can barely count - and I'm a math whiz. I wish I had said more to that dude, but at the moment I was still thinking I might get the job later. But as I got to thinking about it, he probably won't hire me anyway. I'm going to go back down there in a week and give him a piece of my mind, or at least tell him to level with me and explain what the hell this was all about. And see if there's any GOOD reason why I've been passed up for work. I can't wait to move back to Oregon. This was only a pit stop for the winter, because my friends mom owns rental property in this town that we could stay in for free if we do some work on fixing it up, and my friend and I needed a place to go to get out of the winter cold. At least Oregon was friendly. |

I had an interview for a job two and a half weeks ago, and was told that I'd hear back within a week. Nothing yet :/ It's rather annoying as if I don't get this I really need to be applying for other jobs, and it's ridiculously difficult to concentrate on anything with the outcome hanging over me.
