I live in the fifth most populous city in the country and commute to work in the most densely populated state every day and I drive a stick. I'm still happy without an automatic.

Having that little extra omph of acceleration when you want it is a great thing when you live in a place with a more aggressive driving style.
The only time I hate driving a stick is when I have to parallel park on a hill in the snow. |

Hey! Driving an automatic was not a pleasant experience for me, and I don't want to drive one ever again. I'll take the bus over driving an automatic.
Had to do that this morning. It's really the only downside. |

here in about an hour or two i'll go into work to pick up a load going to Martell, Tracy and San Jose (CA)......the thing is as of right now chains are required going over Donor Pass.....by the time i get there they are expecting there to be over 6 inches on the road with 20 mph winds!!!!! the nice thing is all i have to do tonight is get to a safe place in Sacramento....so i have plenty of time to relax and just take it slow but still.....80 foot truck, snow, wind....just freaks me the fuck out!!!!! if i can get some nice pics i'll post them later |
