Just got back from Occupy a few minutes ago. I'll be back there at 10 or 11 until rehearsal (right down the street) at 2PM, then back there again in the evening.
It's cold, but it's worth it. Occupy Ashland is full of great folks, and I was thrilled to note that cars passing would drive by and honk, giving us thumbs up or raising their fist and cheering. These were all sorts of people - business types, rednecks, teenagers, college students, law enforcement - great vibes, and I really feel like this movement is doing some good...if it fails nationally, it will have succeeded on the local level, because wonderful things are happening. That's not insignificant by any stretch of the imagination.

Took my little sister to the zoo on the weekend.
She tried to feed the camel some popcorn.. He grabbed the entire bag, it got stuck in his throat and he almost choked to death. We managed to grab and pull the end of the bag out of his mouth so at least he didn't die. We then got kicked out of the zoo.

Holy **** today was ridiculous. So after school I go to my friends house and get ripped as hell. A little bit after that I have to go to my school gym for a volunteer"feed the homeless" type thing, for school credits. I was just going to walk but I saw two of my friends driving around so I got in the back seat of their car. Now remember I was ****ed up, so I couldn't tell that they were drunk as hell.
Basically what happened was we were going down the street not even fast, like 50km/h. Then BOOM. we hit this section of road that was cut out to fix the pot holes and it (somehow) just totalled the car. The whole front end was just ****ed, the airbags blew, one of the sideview mirrors fell off. Just too much to remember. Luckily no one got too hurt. I got it the worst cause I wasn't wearing my seatbelt. I railed the side of my face on the back of the front seat, and got a nice black eye and a bloody nose, plus a ****ing brutal headache. After the crash I felt like a dick but I had to ditch cause I realy needed those credits. I don't think anyone called the cops cause I went back to go see how it turned out for them so I snuck out like 2 hours into the volunteering for 20 minutes and they just got the car towed away, and said they were good. Just a weird, intense day. |

Missed out on a trip to Boston for a conference but I still need to monitor my kitty's health even though he's looking like he's starting to get better.

Part of me digs that movie, just cause it's so ****ed up, but part of me hates it for the animal cruelty.

So damn tired. We worked from sunrise to sunset. We had to pour a curb that was like 11 inches tall, as well as some steps and a landing. The thing is, it all had to be done by wheelbarrow. The thing is, these steps were at the top of a hill. The thing is, at the top of the hill was the ramp we needed to push the wheelbarrow up to get the concrete into the landing. It was shitty. We didn't really stop, so we skipped lunch. And no one brought water, as per usual, but thankfully they had a hose that we drank out of.
In better news, I'm in first place for this logo competition. I'm pretty sure I mentioned it in here before. They're still "deciding", so in around a week we'll find out for sure. The coolest part is what it's for, which is a community garden. Not trees and flowers, but food. They're offering classes on gardening itself, as well as on canning and preserving and such. My dad is really into that kind of stuff, so if he ends up taking classes, that'd be kickass. That way he could actually see it in person and know that I created it. That's what will really make it worthwhile. |
