I spent my day volunteering at a JV wrestling tournament by keeping time of the rounds.

Which pretty much means pressing a button every 15-30 seconds while sweaty guys in spandex are entwined with one another on a mat. Oh, and hitting the ref with a noodle every minute and 30 seconds.

I used to have so many cassettes.... and alas, now it's down to only one, of my father - in - law's band's recordings. I still have a whole bunch of sony mini - discs and my wife still has a MD player... but, by and large it's all become pretty digitalized for me...

Do you think there will ever be a casssette revival? I doubt it, as they will always have sound quality issues and degradation problems... but hey for people with old mid nineties cars with original tape decks...

We could have a slight cassette revival but it would be more of a retro thing and might not properly catch on. I still have a few cassettes lingering around but the only one i really listen to now and again is a drum and bass compilation because the sound quality is still perfect. There's nothing more frustrating than a tape getting caught and tangled while playing though.

A proper cassette deck kicks the ass of most CD players.
Sound quality problems are mainly down to user error and cheap ass tapes.
Degradation, not so sure. There's 30 year old cassette tapes that still sound fine. CD's are falling apart by now...
I don't think there will be a revival, but that's more out of convenience issues.
Quality wise, cassettes still rule. The only thing that's a problem about them (for me) is the compatibility between cassette decks. Tapes recorded on one fine deck don't neccesarily sound as good on another fine deck. Old tapedecks haven't got this problem as much as the tracks are much wider :)

Another problem that I've yet to see a solution for is the inability to skip tracks reliably and quickly without fast forwarding/rewinding or what you call it. I remember on my Commodore cassette deck, they redeemed this problem somewhat by having a little number counter which counted as a cassette played. Then you could write down at which number a certain game started f.ex ..

Horrible, crude solution, but it worked somewhat :p:
