I actually joined for several reasons. 1. Family Tradition: My family goes back 5 generations of US Naval service. Including both my mother and my father. 2. Money for School: After my time is done, I will go to college for free, and will even get paid a substancial amount to do so until I finsh my degree. 3. Training: I've learned some very valuable stuff in the military, a lot of stuff that a lot of big firms are looking for in the civilian side. I have training and knowledge that 95% of the people I'll being going against for jobs won't have. 4. Pride/Respect: The pride that you get from serving in the world's greatest Navy, and subsequently, the respect that come's along with it is a great feeling and an asset. 5. Veterans Benefits: 2 letters: VA. Yeah, it's a risk, and a real pain in the ass sometimes. But the reward in this case is worth the risk. So I'm going to do my time and then go about living a normal life.

For a minute there, I was thinking you were surprised by the chances of having to fight. Being in the military and all. Getting back to the pastor. It seems everyone who's everyone in America has condemned this madman for what he says he's going to do. Burn the Koran. Despite that it seems nobody can actually stop him from doing it. I'm aware of free speech and America's pride in promoting a free nation, but what about the respect for the religion of others? Are their feelings not taken into account here. Especially those Americans who are Muslims. The potential this has to cause the deaths of many is obvious and being in the military crash...you must realise that people could die and members of the armed forces lives will be put in danger, needlessly, as a direct consequence of this man's actions. This isn't a question aimed at you in particular. It probably needs it's own thread anyway, but while we're at it, I'd like to know what the general opinion is in the States concerning this matter. |

The pastor burning the Quran thing:
The First Amendment of The Constitution is a great thing, but some of the people who use it's freedoms for things such as this are ridiculous. I can't think of anything more counter-productive of our efforts since 9/11 to smooth things out with the muslim community than this. It just goes to show you that no matter how hard a nation works towards something, some ******* with a bunch of media coverage can **** the whole thing up for everyone. It's still not as bad as the church that protest the military funerals. Story here: Life: Style, Books, Gardening, Health, Fitness and Travel | Statesman.com

Edit: nobody told me that my neighbours dog died, which is practically like my own as my neighbour is my aunt and uncle and very often the dog would be in my house. Also nobody in my family cares to tell me this so I find out through ****ing Facebook. Mum and dad got home last night/this Morning and so far I've been accused if stealing my dads VAN keys and being made to pay £50 (brother is paying £50 too). ****ing house is a witch hunt. I want to move out. Anyone looking for any lodgers ? Jk.

So this short week is seeming like one of the longest damn weeks I've had to go through in a long while. Nothing bad, really...just a long ass week. Plus a bee stung me on the way to work. I guess the only consolation I have is that the bee is now dead. ****er.

I had a nightmare the other night, I got stung by a wasp... and apparantly I was allergic. I've never been stung by a bee/wasp. I'm scared.
