Earlier today, I was looking at a human skull in the biology department. You know, picking it up and looking at the teeth and nooks and crannies. I asked who's skull it was and I assumed it was someone who had donated their body to science - that there was some kind of consent involved. For example we have a skeleton downstairs, Mr. Jespersen, who I'm reasonably sure used to be a doctor or some sort who wanted to donate his remains.
Anyways, it turned out the skull came from India before they banned trade in human remains in 1985. That's been big business there for quite a while and supposedly there's still a thriving black market. Some will take the unclaimed corpses of dead beggars for example and boil the flesh away and sell the skeletons to schools and doctor's offices in the west. Some might even rob graves. I wasn't aware of this until today. Kinda bizarre and a little morbid to think about, I thought .. although probably more so if you're holding the actual skull. .. And I also found SSX3 dirt cheap for the XBOX 360 by the way, so now I know what I'll be doing this evening.

Yeah, looking for a job sucks and you hardly ever hear back when you respond to ads. Networking is really the key to getting a job. Sometimes I feel like responding to ads is just a way to kill time until the inevitable connection you make through your former co-worker's brother's friend or whatever.

Started my new job on Sunday, had a wee guy called Corin in my first class (he was the only one who turned up). He didn't speak to me the whole 40mins I was teaching. I have no idea what he speaks like. Then went into Hamilton, got a nice meal in a small restaurant with 2 girls from work. Met my parents unexpectedly in New Look. Got a run home with them. Went to his house, met his parents, watched Rock N Rolla, spoke all the way through it so now I have to watch it again. Went to the pub, had some of a friends curry, got a run home, almost whiteyed. Almost dying today, still in my bed. Have a shithole of a room but I don't have the energy to clean it.

I went to the Uni (though we're on a holiday this month) and we started, my friends and I, to build the set for a future project. It's a remake of a scene from The Life of Others.
I'm pretty excited about it. Every year, in February, we get two of the greatest teachers of Europe (a DOP and a Sound Engineer), and we work with them on some remake. Last year was The Diving Bell and the Butterfly, the ending project was pretty satisfying. Let's see what happens till next month.
