Default So, what is your opinion on this?

The forum I was a member of before here is owned and run by a bunch of guys who are all pro-gun and pro Jesus. The 2 owners both play in P&W bands.

The forum has strict rules about NO POLITICS and NO RELIGION. Yet they allow members to talk about guns and folks can request prayers, as well as talk about Praise and Worship music.

Was reading an exchange between a member and a mod just now. The member is arguing that guns are political and prayer is religion.

The mod is saying asking for prayers is the same as asking for well wishes, that P&W music is simply just another genre, and that guns are just tools - like baseball bats, hammers, and swords.

On that last point, I just checked the internet and can not find anything about any Washington bat lobbies, any debates on bat control, politicians who take a firm stand on one side of the bat aisle in order to gain votes from a certain demographic, or a National Bat Association.

Anyway, are the forum owners being hypocritical? Note that anti-gun or anti-religious posting accounts for tons of infractions over there.

Worship music gets a pass, the others should not.

Can we have the forum name to go troll the shit out of it?

Also, agree with Frown and they sound like idiots.

I quit them before coming here. I no longer post but occasionally read the place for entertainment.

I dont think guns are inherently political. If theyre just generall talking about their guns that seems fine to me. If theyre arguing about gun control thats political.

Im not really sure about the prayer thing. Seems religious to me but at the same time its so general that I can understand why it wouldnt really matter or lead to heated discussions (I mean to people really care about prayers to start a heated debate?)

If its a music forum cant see how worship music could be banned tho.

So in short, meh I dont really think theyre out of line.

Thing is both the prayer and gun threads always end up drifting into the grey areas and when they do the mods are always more likely to let the pro-religion and pro-gun folks get a pass where the anti's get dinged left and right.

It's a huge forum so tons of posts rack up really quick and the odds of stuff derailing is about 99%.

Guns aren't politial per se, but prayers are religious as ****.

Aye, just give us the forum name and we'll give it a thorough trolljob.

I also frequent TGP, and while I don't know about hypocritical, it does strike me odd at some of the stuff they DO allow discussion on and then some of the stuff they are SO sensitive about.

Seems inconsistent for sure and outright paranoia in other cases.
