You're both wrong
The reason i posted this thread is to whine about how **** this board is at both properly appreciating and discussing hip hop/rap music Ps: ki and neo of all people need not try to give insight on jwb posts.. that is like the blind leading the blind. |

That's fair I guess. Over the years I've realized that my thought process while listening to music is usually either "I enjoy this" or "I don't enjoy this." So, I've found that I don't really have much to contribute to music discussions in general without being dishonest.

I'd go more into the hip hop section, but it's not a genre I'm that well-versed in (hipster hop especially, but I'm still shakey on 90s gangsta rap, past the major artists.) I've been listening to a bit more, recently, but not enough to say smart things about it, and there isn't really enough talk in the sub-forum to go about educating myself past the basics.
BTW, what are trve hip hop fans' opinions on Esoteric? I know he's one of those "battle rappers" (don't know if that's the term, but it's one I heard used) who pals around with the likes of Vinnie Paz and Army of the Pharaohs. Not as big on a lot of that stuff, but Esoteric wins me over more than most.

I haven't heard 7l & Esoteric's newest stuff but I like them ~2004. I've posted up some of their tracks in the hiphop reco thread.
Fantastic album right here: His rhymes are have a battle rap feel to them, but Idk if he's considered a battle rapper. I've never actually heard him in a battle.

The last i heard from Esoteric was the Czarface album he made with Inspectah deck.
He's a pretty good rapper although i prefer El-P's flow. Hip hop is not really my favorite genre so idk much about it that's why i rarely get into hip hop discussions around here.
