The whatever happened to thread...
I've always found it interesting that people just decide to deactivate their accounts.
Why bother? I mean unless you have a compulsion problem, where you can't keep logging in, if your pissed off or bored with MB, why not just sit it out & come back in a year, when you feel like posting? So I imagine we will need mod support for this, but this is for the whatever happened to that person thread? I noticed that E5150 guy is gone did he get banned or just quit? and whatever happened to the Lord Lardship guy, one day he's posting epic long musical history posts and then the next day he's gone? |

E5150 made several posts insulting members that went over the line (the insults weren't even relevant or funny) so that's why he got the boot.
Larehip was banned per his request, albeit at a late response. Quote:

People overreact to insults. Especially online. One moment they're feeling okay. Then something is said by a complete stranger and, "oh noes, my poor ego, that bastard made me feel bad". But it's a fallacy. Your reaction to the comment made you feel bad. Not the other person. Someone calls you fat, ugly, skinny, stupid, whatever, maybe it's true, but who cares? The world you were happy in a few moments ago before the comment was made is just the same. The sea still smells the same, birdsong still sounds the same, the sun's still blazing away, your pet still looks adorable, who cares if someone insulted you. But you lose all perspective. You need to reaffirm the self. Convince yourself you aren't fat or stupid or ugly. Haha. But there's no bloody self anyway. And besides, if there are people who like us and praise us, there must be others who dislike and insult us. They go together. To expect one but not the other is madness.

Hippy nonsense again.
Seriously, no you should not overreact to insults (I certainly have) but at the same time you have to react, otherwise someone who's insulting you thinks they can just get away with it, and will continue doing so. You need to draw the line. You don't have to have a meltdown over it, sure, but you need to put someone straight that there are certain things you won't accept being called. For the record, I am not a communist. I may be many things -- a coward, a loser, pretentious, a communist --- but I am NOT a porn star!
