A Creative Writing Competition
Anyone up for a creative writing competition, just like in the good 'ol days? Basically, everyone who wants to participate sends their work through a PM. Then all of the stories/lyrics/etc. are posted in a thread (with no names attached, so that none of the voters are influenced by who the author is), and people vote for whichever one they like the best.
Here's how it went the last time around: http://www.musicbanter.com/lounge/53...mpetition.html http://www.musicbanter.com/lounge/54...ing-round.html |
Sorry, I know you floated this before but my answer is the same: far, far, far too busy to squeeze something like this into my hectic schedule at the moment. Wish you all the best with it though.

Yeah, that's pretty much the response I was expecting. Figured I'd give it a shot, though. :thumb:

I hate writing, I'm bad at it, and often very short winded. I can send you my short story fairy tale inversion of Little Red Riding Hood based on the lyrics of the Florence and the Machine album Lungs. I hate the way it turned out, I had tons of ideas that I couldn't get out of my head onto paper, but I'm willing to send it to you. It was a project for my fairy tale class last semester.

Screenshotted and sent to Sansa. Also, I had fun with it, that album really lends itself to fairy tale inversions. "Blinding" even mentions Snow White:

But then again, I guess it doesn't really matter all that much whether it's anonymous or not. As long as people participate and have a good time, it'd be worth it either way. So yeah, if more people decide to join and this contest actually starts to happen, I'd love to get your short story in the mix. Also... Quote:

It's not for the contest. I'm just offering to you if you want to read. There are many people on here who are much better writers. I already know I suck at it, I don't need to be compared to others. If you want to add it you can idc.

I actually don't like the idea of making it a contest. Writing can be fun, but putting it out there for the world to see can be nerve-racking. Making it anonymous might take a bit of the edge off, but some people might be sensitive to losing a writing competition, and any blows to the ego can be discouraging for them.
I'm fine with the idea of it being anonymous, but I'm really not sure I'm on board with making it a competition. Of course, anything I've written will probably be pretty obviously mine, so anonymity won't do much to hide my identity. |
