I think I'm about a 4.

I'm white. My favorite type of people are Far Eastern Asians. My least favorite people are black and Middle Eastern. I still take people individually on a one on one basis and I'm happy to be friends with, work with, or have romantic encounters with, people of any ethnic origin. But like if I was given a choice between living in Japan or Nigeria I would choose Japan. I consider it healthy and natural to have preferences. Preferring one race over another to me is racist. So, yeah, I'm racist. I don't hate any racial groups but I like some better than others.

Chosing a place to live seems to be more about culture and standard of living than about race.

Well Soulflower said I'm racist so I must definitely be without a doubt

Along with everyone else here

So I can't make any conclusions about people based on what kind of culture and standard of living they've created for themselves?

If you choose to believe that race is the most important determining factor and not historical and environmental reasons, you sure can.
We once had this discussion, so I think that you do indeed believe that.
I for one simply don't know. There is no real scientific evidence either way. My personal experience is, that race determines jack ****, so I usually go by that.

OccultHawk 07-16-2015 01:01 PM

I don't know either. I remember the discussion and I think all I said was that as far as I'm concerned different races might have different proclivities concerning certain intellectual and physical pursuits. I don't remember everything I wrote but I think that was about the size of it.

Seemingly small things like being the first civilization to can food, for example, had huge consequences historically. That's just a right place right time kind of thing.

But it annoys me that it's become heresy for the scientific community to even study the matter.

I also remember getting trolled with the moronic assumption that if I were well read I would know that race doesn't even exist.

It is being studied, although not particularly widely and yeah, some people do get upset about it quite a bit.
On one hand I think science shouldn't be stopped by PC issues, on the other hand such studies would have little practical application, but huge potential for being misunderstood and misused. It's a difficult topic.

Myself included.

I'm not racist in the slightest. I feel people vastly confuse racism and stereotyping though. If I get cut off by a mini van near me, I'm more inclined to believe that either the person behind the wheel is either Asian or Indian. Why? Because it's generally true where I live. That's just observation. However, if I felt that all Indian and Asian people should have their licenses taken away, that'd be racist.

I define racism as treating somebody different, usually negatively, JUST because of their race. Association, while still a bit socially unacceptable, isn't racist. It just isn't.

Let me ask you this (I've brought it up before on here). When you are telling a story to your friends about someone who isn't white do you always feel the need to point out their race? I feel this is a kind of sub-conscious racism that a lot people do, and it's not even offensive.

Some random white person: "and my friend Jimmy, this black guy, yada yada yada" -- I know a TON of people who do this, and when I've called them out on it they just look confused. Unless race is relevant to the story why do people feel the need to point it out?
