As I understand it the "silent majority" got up in arms about trying a soldier for "doing his job" and so he got off the hook for personally killing more unarmed people than most serial killers.

Basically, yeah. You had the Nixon supporters crying foul and the college kids going ballistic wanting his head. It was weird for a nine year old kid. The Vietnam War was on the news every night. I thought war was totally normal.

Bro I don't know what to tell you but I grew up with the first Gulf War, Kosovo, and then into Afghanistan and Iraq, and now I'm wondering which brown country we're going to shoot up next. I have to wonder if the US doesn't sometimes go to war just so people won't get used to peace for when the military industrial complex really needs to blow something up.

Yeah, it's kind of sad. There was a time when news outfits could get in the trenches, We actually saw the horrors of war on TV and not some pep rally on some guy's "Bloommobile" in Iraq. Vietnam was enough to make me basically a pacifist.

I honestly have trouble keeping up with who we're at war with anymore. I just checked and 7 countries? I guess airstrikes are only kinda sorta war for the airstrikers but Jesus. I want to move to Canada just to keep things simple.
