The Grumpy Old Man (or Woman) Thread

http://cdn.meme.am/instances/50018889.jpg
You can either be
A) An old man or woman and complain about "kids these days" and suchlike
or
B) a young hip dude or dudess who tells us oldsters to "Can it grandad" etc and tell us why we're wasting their precious oxygen and why we should all be in our coffins by now.

First off: you damn kids and your makey-up words! "Sick"? "Rad"? When I were a lad, if you heard rad you ducked and covered behind the nearest wall, and if you heard sick you called the doctor! What's next, Bad is Good? What? It is? Damn you kids for making this a world I have trouble living in!

Neapolitan 06-22-2015 02:29 PM

I don't want to sound like I'm not hep et cetera, but what is with these threads? When do you find time to take your afternoon naps?

YorkeDaddy 06-22-2015 02:33 PM

When I'm playing basketball with friends and someone makes a sweet play we call him a "baaaad man"

So yes, bad is indeed good

The Batlord 06-22-2015 02:34 PM

In my day, our inane threads were actually funny.

Ahh "funny" I think I know what you mean, but it's been so long I think I forgot what it was.

Key 06-22-2015 03:19 PM

Isn't this thread just another version of The Bitch Box?

simplephysics 06-22-2015 03:20 PM

I love old people. Not just because they bankroll my paychecks, but also because I appreciate their blatant bitterness and at times, utter insanity. Keeps my job interesting.

The Batlord 06-22-2015 03:23 PM

And if you play your cards right, maybe throw a little action their way, you can get some good money when they finally bite the big one.

simplephysics 06-22-2015 03:30 PM

There's definitely something to that. One thing old men love more than Lawrence Welk on Saturday nights is agressively hitting on young girls without consequence.

Gurl, get you some o' dat inheritance money. It'd just end up going to their ingrate family who probably don't visit anyway.

Exo 06-22-2015 03:43 PM

I'm starting to wonder what the difference is between these threads and the threads started by spammers. There are a lot of these. You may have a neurological disorder TH where you compulsively create threads you thought up while on the toilet.

Carpe Mortem 06-22-2015 03:46 PM

Back in my day, the approximate age of retirement was 65.

Now its 67.

What is this world coming to?!?!

Plankton 06-22-2015 04:49 PM

Green beans are on sale today.

Doesn't make any sense. They are still useless at 65, medicine just keeps em alive longer.

YorkeDaddy 06-22-2015 05:03 PM

Back in my day we appreciated members that consistently go out of their way to provide healthy, clean content and discussion to a forum. Kind of a weird concept for people nowadays to grasp but boy was that a great time

No. This is specifically targeting the age gap, obviously.

If only I could make it to the toilet.... sigh.
I'm assuming you're not serious, but in case you are, it's pretty obvious what the difference is. I'm actually trying to engage people and get some debate going while still having fun. Oh, and have you seen my Soundcloud page?

About whether the world was better in our day or yours. The answer is ours, of course... :D

Frownland 06-22-2015 07:39 PM

Back in my day, whenever someone would bitch about the younger generation we would slap them in the mouth. This generation has gotten soft.

**** that ****. "Must of" rolls off the tongue way better than "must have".

I'm gonna have to go with this. Reluctantly.

GuD 06-23-2015 12:09 AM

must've. it's a word now because I said so. That red line is irrelevant because I'm better than autocorrect because I said so. god has spoken.

Key 06-23-2015 12:10 AM

You know, "must've" is a word too.

EDIT: damn it WD

The Batlord 06-23-2015 02:45 AM

Except, when you're saying it, it's more like "must o'", so there's no point in pretending you're actually saying "must've".

Bollocks! You can't justify bad grammar just because "it sounds better". You stupid kids! Grrrrr! You can say "must of" phonetically but if you're writing it then it is "must have". Did you ever see a newspaper (remember them kids?) where the columnist said "The man must of been guilty?" Me arse! Stop trying to wriggle out of it and admit you have been caught by Das Naszischen Grammenbanfurhrer! Expect us when you least expect us.

Also "must've" is a shortened version, I'm sure you know, of "must have" --- "of" does not have "v" or "e" in it...

Again, stupid kids! Buy a dictionary! NO not online! Gaaaahhhhh!

You're writing pal, not speaking. Stop making excuses. Do it right, or you'll be drummed out of the Grammar Nazis.

Again, **** that ****. I spell real good, and I gots perdy punctuation. Good 'nuff for me. And until you start capitalizing song and album titles, then you have no room to talk.

I don't need a room to talk. Who needs a specific room they can talk in? You mean, you couldn't talk until you went into this particular room every time? What if the person you wanted to talk to wasn't there? Do you shout? And if you do, is that still considered talking? What if the room was locked, or being painted? Where would you talk then? Nonsense, man. Nonsense.

One eye? Luxury! We had to share the same eye with three families, all living together in the one shoebox, inside a rolled-up newspaper. You kids....
