Dearly Beloved/Summertime is John Coletrane's free jazz song from Sun Ship done in the style of a raga. I used a drone tuning and did the song in the middle of the day during the Spring when it was warm and I found a shady spot under some trees (the time of day is important to a raga). It's also important to note that this was almost entirely improvised.

Distant Relative of Nihilism is done on a guitar prepared with a found piece of metal and tuned to a chord that I liked. Then I wrote out seventy five rhythms in class and progressed through them all while improvising the melodies.
What's a drone tuning?

On the first piece, DbAbDbDbAbDb and for the second one I used ECGEE. I like having lots of unisons.

Being an incredibly ****ty guitarist I've never done anything with different tunings.
Maybe I should change that.
Those pieces are great btw.

On Distant Relative of Nihilism I was playing a five string guitar. My high e had broken and I incorporated the broken string into some of the other songs on the album.

Thanks for the compliment, grindy. Glad you dug it.
