But there'll be hardly any of it, and it'll be all stringy anyway. Not to mention the very real threat of disease.

Yeah, I stopped watching that show in the first season, once I was realized how awful it was, so you're gonna have to explain that one.

i liked lost
never finished it though.... it was weird... i downloaded like thew first 4 seasons and was binge watching it after work, when i worked at this one wharehouse. then when i lost that job i just stopped watching the show. i got maybe 3-4 seasons in before i quit. then never felt the motivation to pick it back up again. but it was a decent show for a cheesy mainstream primetime drama but yea this scenario would be like a way better version of lost, cause it would feature crackwhores and nutcases maybe like the hunger games, viewers could send characters a package at their own expense. so while they might not have any drugs on the island initially.. maybe once they get a relatively functional agrarian/hunting society going, someone can send them a package with marijuana seeds, or coca plant seeds, and watch the impact on said society. or conversely... send them the building blocks of some basic technology, like maybe some rudimentary tools to start harvesting and smelting metal. or maybe even some solar panels or something like that. the possibilities are vast. another interesting scenario would be one my friend brought up... once there is an established society, and we keep sending new homeless recruits to the island, they will basically be homeless people arriving at a newly established society, leaving for the potential of a new homeless problem developing on the island. that would have to be a situation they'd have to manage. one dynamic that i think would be interesting to watch would be the fact that most perpetual homeless fall into one of 3 categories: physically disabled, mentally disabled, or drug addicts. for the physically disabled, i think it'd be a bit inhumane to send them to this island, so instead they'll just be given jobs as a bagger or something like that at some grocery store. basically i'd just force companies to put society's physically disabled on their payroll, and leave it up to them to find what job to give them. so... the island would be just for the mental cases and the druggies. since the island would be drug free... i could easily see the former drug addicts basically being forced into a sober life and then turning into productive members of the new society, probably even very prominent members. at least initially. eventually, they'd start making their own alcohol. then, perhaps part of the society would stick by their new found sobriety, while others deviated and went back to the bottle? or maybe the whole society would just be drunkards? the mental cases, though.... those would be your real wild cards. it would be interesting to see how the ex druggies deal with the mental cases among them. or whether a band of mental cases might form a unit and break off from the main society to go live in the wilderness with spears and ****. dunno man there are a lot of variables to consider Last edited by John Wilkes Booth; 06-02-2015 at 05:13 PM. |
