Wow, pretty whacked to hear how judgmental a lot of you younger folks are over this.

I guess ultimately a person's tattoo is more about what it means to them than what it means to me, it's not my body. But, I feel like people who get tribal tats are more interested in being trendy than they are the art of tattoos... that's pretty weak imo. It's more "look at me, I'm cool" than it is "this is cool, I want it on me". Certain more generic styled tattoos have a history though. I don't know what they're called but I recognize em when I see em. I think pin up girls, roses, hearts, etc with that kinda retro aesthetic are awesome. But even that's become trendy- Ed Hardy's son (?) pretty much sold that kinda thing out. I have a sentimental tattoo and want more so I get the appeal of a portrait but for myself prefer something that symbolizes the person rather than their face.

I imagine having a fake spider on your face is about as enticing to a woman as a real one. I'm sure he gets all the pussy.

yea it's not all that original but any sort of fashion trend you are going to find patterns like that, it's all just a sort of repetition of memes. i think people tend to put a sort of mystic quality on the idea of 'originality' that doesn't actually exist. innovation is typically just taking what alright exists and tweaking it slightly.

edit - i have to sort of check myself here cause i do judge people when it crosses over into sort of obnoxious/ridiculous territory. i don't wanna pretend to be jesus here. but even then it's only light hearted judging as i just enjoy making fun of them. but tbh i don't think dali's tattoo is all that bad, beyond the fact that people will categorize him based on it. it looks decent anyway. imo

That's pretty much the style I was thinking of but I've seen much better than those.

while we're on the topic of facial tattoos.. is there anything (short of manson's swastika-on-the-forehead) that will alienate you from all legitimate sectors of society more than the teardrop tattoo?
