I'm from a split family, so there are times when I need motherly advice and support, but I can't go to my mom (and I don't have that type of relationship with my stepmom yet). Roxy, dreadnaught, and LiL have all been really helpful and kind to me--I don't think of them as "strangers". Since my great-aunt died, they're the closest I have to another mother.

For the most part, I agree with you, just wanted to point out that there are times when internet people can be just as helpful as real life people.

Something I want to say, (and I am not trying to have a debate, or argue for hours.)

This place is home for a lot of members, and though we are all doing thing whatever it is we do all day, we still stop in here and waste a significant amount of our time. So, relationships form, bonds form, people meet each other and it becomes very real. I detest it when I hear people say **** in a negative way about this place in regards to that. Because if this place isn't a safe space where you are among friends, like minded people, and hopefully people who are like family to you, then you are doing this wrong. And I am sorry for you. Really I am. I wouldn't trade the folks I have met here irl, or virtual for anything in this world. You are all endearing in your own way, and there are enough personalities, (some harsher then others) that you can't possibly come here and not make at least one friend. (A real friend).

But Karen had a problem with pk, not that she was necessarily addicted to them, but her MS made her forget she had taken them, and with pain still afflicting her she would take more. Her doctor told us that what happens then is you get locked into a pain cycle: the painkiller in your bloodstream has not worked yet, and if you take another before the four-hour gap limit, it actually induces pain, so you take another to get rid of the new pain, it does the same thing, and round and round you go. I know tablets containing codeine are strictly regulated here: you can't buy more than one box specifically because of the addiction thing.

I unfortunately don't know how to advise you on controlling pain, but I'm sure you know my heart goes out to you and I'm here to talk if you need it. Perhaps this will help...

Yeah, I knew not many people would know what life is like for me. Sometimes I bitch about my pain in the bitch box but generally I have only mentioned it in passing. Here you can only buy one packet of codeine but you can shop at another pharmacy and get more. It's a horrible thing to deal with, it consumes you, addiction. It was so close to me overdosing and then MB would be in disarray. I knew I needed help, I didn't want it to end up affecting my work. It was getting close. Sorry to hear Karen went through it too, obviously not addiction but having issues with her medication. Do you give her all her medication now? Does she ever wish to, you know, move on?

Sometimes I feel like I'm carrying on too much with questions in a given thread. How many questions per post is acceptable? Is five cool? I think I've exceeded that but I'm not sure yet. Not that this thread is about me or anything, but how many problems should I solve from other members posted in this thread before I can consider myself a decent human being? I figured that it would be five, since I haven't solved anyone's problems yet and I'd rather not be considered a good person as far as the community of MB goes (I mean imagine if you were the hero of infidels, that's a worse existence than being an infidel in itself) and I'd rather not have other people slap the saviour label on me. But are these questions worth asking? That's all I really want to know.

Do I have a particular posting style that you dislike? I'm a little confused to why you are debating whether to bother with a thread because I posted in it? I actually made a huge post discussing my situation, it was very serious. Do you associate me with fighting? When was the last time I did that exactly? I'm actually in love with nearly everyone here, and this goes to anyone else who thinks I'm always wanting to fight. The only fighting I do these days is with spammers and trolls.

I absolutely agree with you suggestion, there is a diet I can be on, but I'm too poor to be able to even get a week worth of food let alone all healthy. Thank you very much for the advice though. As soon as I'm working I will try it out with my doctors input too.

Yup. I don't think the people that post in here legitimately, (not the nay sayers and haters...cough) would ever do anything or say anything harmful to the members seeking support. I just get upset when I see someone say how members are like family and there is always someone to say "Dude you don't know these people why should you care?" Care? Why would they, they only spend countless hours a day here with us.

I'm not sure exactly what you mean by the bolded bit honey. As for her meds, yes I give them all to her. She still forgets, so I have to do odd things, like have her toy cat dance with her toy wolf (no Batty it is NOT a euphemism!), or Kermit sing her a song. Last night I had to dance around with a Patrick's Day hat on telling her she had taken her tablets. Silly, but if I don't do it she forgets and then rings me in the small hours to check did she get her sleeping tablets... the things ya have to do.
