I guess I'm a little maternal. I just have no desire to birth a thing and care for it and not sleep, etc., etc. But once someone I know makes their way into my heart, you best believe they're the center of my attention whenever something goes even slightly wrong. I mean, another one of the girls I work with had a goddamn blister on her foot and I just about died and asked if she needed a band-aid, if she treated it with antiseptic after it ruptured, if it hurt, if she was ok, maybe she needs a new pair of shoes or to wear thick socks for a while, and don't forget to keep it clean, you don't want a staph infection or anything!!!! but children are all kinds of nope. Can't stand 'em.

See I can respect that. If you know something isn't for you why bother? To be truthful, I read that post and I was thinking about the children thread and how up in arms ppl would get about your views and I wondered if it was because they thought you had a problem with mothering, and parenting. When in essence you don't really have a problem with that all it's just you don't want a baby. Someone you can reason with and that is independent that you can care for is more your speed. All parent really is, is a fancy word for teacher and care giver. And if you are caring for others, and or consoling them and what have you, you are in essence just as much of a mother as any other woman. So keep on keeping on chickie. I can dig it.

I take care of some people on the daily (you may remember my friend who's a heroin addict - have mentioned him a time or two - I have to tell him how special and sweet he is every day or he's all sorts of sad - he is an eternal responsibility at this point but I love that kid beyond words) because they're so important to me; these people make my life worthwhile but they're also independent. I can go about my daily life and still be their confidante without much effort (apart from the occasional major heartache over their struggles) and that's what I'm all about.
