Anyway, I want to apologize to you and YorkeDaddy. I got pretty worked up, and said some foolish things.
I have at least three unfinished novels, and ideas for at least three trilogies. But it's hard to knuckle down particularly when there's all this fun journal stuff to write.

No worries; heads got hot. I said some things too that I apologise for. It's all good.

take care of the children who are already alive and in need (e.g.; children who were born to drug addicts and other people incapable of handling their reproductive organs in a responsible fashion) if you care so damned much about them - it makes more sense than making more, which is just a thinly veiled byproduct of your ego.
this is kind of amusing to me tbh

i mean having kids is objectively the only reason you exist

obviously i'm not ridiculing you for not wanting them, as i don't really particularly want them either

but to criticize the logic of people having kids... its sort of like calling out a computer program for performing the one specific function it was designed to perform

I went through a phase where I was heavily involved in an antinatalist/voluntary human extinction movement community. Coincidentally I stopped identifying with the ideals as strongly after I addressed and got a handle on my depression.

Voluntary human extinction? The idea that someone could take such a concept so seriously seems as egotistical and self-indulgent an idea as how they would argue wanting to have children is. Someone that has clearly thought about such a thing to that extent, and has such a high opinion of their own brilliance is clearly in love with themselves, whether or not they're depressed.

Yeah, I would say so.

yea, i remember that, actually. i didn't know that was you, but i remember that someone on this board was saying how its cruel to have kids and i couldn't get my mind around it

i do think pragmatically it makes sense not to have kids in certain situations, based on selfish needs

but to try to create a movement for the extinction of ones own species... it just seems to run contrary to the basic premises of biology

which, if you are an atheist, is sort of the only store in town that has any hope of selling you some stock in life's intrinsic value

imo

There are certainly still aspects that make sense to me, but I feel comfortable cherry-picking the principles I put any stock into.

to me, i'd say it's self defeating since it starts off with a premise that is based in moral argument and human empathy, which, according to modern science, is only a tool we have developed to make us even better at pumping out more humans
