Sometimes it just kinda happens. That's how it was for us.

Yea, that's how I think it would happen for me if it ever happens.

I'm not pushing it, but if it makes sense when the option is on the table and circumstances agree, I wouldn't say no.

Not interested in marriage myself, though I'm not as opposed as I have been in the past. Same with kids - I'm a big fan of the child free life but being in a happy relationship paired with being a hopeless romantic and getting crazy hormonal every month can be challenging.

Wonder what it is about MusicBanter that attracts people that don't want to be married

Now don't attack me, I'm not saying it's weird or wrong or anything like that, just that it's not all that common and yet the majority of posts in here are from people who have happened to make that decision

It didn't work out for me the first time but I'd like to give it another shot someday.

We're maladjusted misanthropes, what do you expect?

As long as he's male...

we have such a perfect life. children are unnecessary - leave it to the breeders, they can have the next generation of cattle.
This is where I may get into trouble, but will you PLEASE give it a rest with the hating on children? Your attitude really revolts me. I have a niece who has children of her own, and is struggling with them both being autistic, so you comparing her and people like her to cattle and breeders is really doing my head in.

We get it: you hate children. Just stop saying it will you? Don't forget, if your parents had thought like you do now you would not be here.

Thanks. I'd appreciate a little forbearance and consideration for those of us who don't consider children the devil's spawn. At least, not always.

We don't have children, but I feel like I'm about ready to.

In my eartly 30s, I can already feel my life getting old. I've done the parties, saw the movies, went to the places. I can listen to a new album, but it's gonna be album number gazillion which is not as fresh as listening to that first one. Having a kid just seems like one of the great adventures that will be a completely new experience to me and because being a parent is a situation that's always changing, I assume it'll be an adventure that doesn't get old fast.

I also think parents are more involved in the world, like in politics, because they are more invested in it through their kids. To me, things matter less over the years and I just feel myself getting more cynical. I don't like that.

I also know I'm just gonna love the **** out of my future kid. Sorry if that sounds cheesy (insert pedo joke if you want), but I want to experience my love for my child. Plus it'll be a biological mixture of me and my wife that we can unleash on the world, which is also awesome.

So people are allowed to talk about how great it is to have kids, yet when people talk about how they don't want kids, it's suddenly a problem?

No. when people talk about hating kids, about how horrible they are and call those who bear them names, THEN it's a problem. Talk all you like about not wanting kids, your preogative. But don't dismiss them out of hand as if nobody cares about them. You are both missing, deliberately I would say, some of the best things about kids and Lil is focussing only on the brats who come into your store. There's a lot more to kids than that, and you should both realise that and have a little consideration for those of us who actually like, or at least don't hate kids.

To refer to people who want or have kids as "cattle" with that sneering, I'm-better-than-you attitude Lil and yourself have is just disrespectful to the max, and it boils my blood.

Nobody's stopping you voicing your opinion, but when it turns out as hate-filled vitriol and sneering sarcasm as if all kids were little demons and all people who had kids were idiots, then we have a problem. All I'm asking for is that you understand, both of you, some of us love or like or can get along with kids, and your comments are not appreciated.
