Clubs or Concerts?

I didn't know how to name this thread but it's about your personal preferences when it comes to the places you like hanging out

Where would you rather hangout, A club, a house party, a bar or a concert?

I personally like hanging out in house parties and small bars watching local bands. i like concerts too but i haven't been to alot of them, Clubs i hate.

i hate the music they play, the overpriced drinks and the whole atmosphere really.

Im not much of a dancer plus im cheap, im not paying 5 dollars for a beer i can buy for 1 dollar on a small bar where my friend's sh*tty band is playing.

Ninetales 03-31-2015 03:19 PM

depends on my mood as i like them all but house parties >>> all for getting drunk

clubs are fun because i generally do dumb things and theyre more socially acceptable on a d floor

Frownland 03-31-2015 03:21 PM

I mean assuming that I dig the band that's playing at a house party that's the ideal climate.

Black Francis 03-31-2015 03:25 PM

Likewise, i like a relaxed laid back environment

I dance like everyone is watching so i don't dance at all.

Everything's cool except a club. House parties have definitely lost their appeal a lot, but great in small doses.

I like not having to pay 60+ bucks to attend a show. Small venues are where it's at. I've seen some of my favorite bands for less than the price of a pizza. As for hangouts, I like dive bars.

In a dive bar i'll pay a round or two but for a concert im bringing my own supplies. If i can sneak them in that is.

House parties, the smaller the better. I can't go to clubs or bars because I have emotional issues or something.

Janszoon 03-31-2015 04:40 PM

A bar or a concert at small venue for me. Clubs and house parties are fun too, but I'm at an age where they're not really a part of my lifestyle anymore.

yep basically the opposite of me haha I usually just do whatever I want and make a fool of myself in the process. fun stuff if you ask me

I will concede tho that clubs are pretty shitty unless youre drunk

Frownland 03-31-2015 07:48 PM

Jazz clubs rule though.

For my money and enjoyment, smaller venues offer the biggest bang for my musical buck.

Bars, small clubs, restaurants with live bands, and small theaters > Medium sized clubs and medium sized theaters > Large clubs and large theaters > Typical outdoor ampitheater style venues > Outdoor festivals > Indoor arenas > Outdoor stadiums.

The clubs I'm referring to are live music clubs, not dance music clubs (no interest whatsoever in those.)

I won't go into a bar unless I'm playing at it. It's been this way for a long time. I just can't sit there and watch some crappy house band screw up some crappy over played, and over requested dribble without wanting to go all Animal House on the guitar player.

I'm kind of a prick.

Brother prick!

Fortunately we have the Gaslamp District here in downtown SD and you have to be very good to get a gig at the established clubs.

I usually only go to bars for music when I'm familiar enough with the performer/band to know what I'm getting into. I've been pleasantly surprised and unpleasantly horrified about equally whenever I've gone into one blind.

simplephysics 04-01-2015 11:17 AM

House bands are pretty annoying when you just want to get together with friends for a few drinks.

The only house bands that are guaranteed to rule are the ones you'll find in Vegas casinos and clubs. The amount of talent (most of it from out of town) in that city is ridiculous.

Don't get me wrong, there are some really killer bands out there lost in bar hell, but a good percentage of them are talentless hacks that are just in it for the ego boost of being on stage. The one's who are just playing like puppets and put no emotion into the music. It's almost like karaoke, but with live musicians. It's a little embarrassing to watch sometimes.

Black Francis 04-01-2015 12:22 PM

House bands don't bother me at all even if they suck.
i usually tune them out if they do and just focus on drinking and chatting with me friends.

Unless they use trumpets.
Trumpets make a very sharp sound that's hard to tune out so the only bands that annoy me are crappy Ska bands.

James 04-01-2015 05:00 PM

I actually can't choose. I adore them all.

Aux-In 04-01-2015 06:39 PM

House party.
