Duh. Anybody who puts as much time as we do into developing our music taste isn't going to have the same amount of respect for the music taste of the casual fan.

Group cohesion and exclusivity is one of the anthropological functions of music. If the forumgoers here weren't snobs, I'd say they were doing it wrong.

I don't think I am on here, but away from MB I would say I probably am. Definitely around my mates who are for the most part, not really into music as much.

You never ever go into the indie threads. And to be honest I don't go into them much anymore.Bc it gets clogged with first and only time posters who bitch they can' t link. And everyone that I talk to here about music has my # so why bother?

I can be little bit of a snob. If I find out that one of my friends listens to bad music I'll give him (or her) a good beatdown with a sock full of batteries.

I am a little snobby in real life, but on here I'm the modest rookie.

Not really. I honestly don't care what other people listen to.

If I'm forced to listen to something I don't like (usually because of the vocals) I'll tend to just tune out and listen to only the instrumentals.

Isn't that the whole point of the "Banter" part of the website? Of course i'm a music snob. I'll say what I like, and if I don't like what you like, we'll probably get into a debate about it. That's the fun.

I hope this side doesn't change your attitude. Snobs aren't fun to hang with in real life, unless you're just as snobby as them.

I was being more civil with my response. I could've of course said i'll get into an argument and hope to God that I win the argument because my music taste is obviously superior, but that'd just come off as snobbish..

If im honest i am bit of a musical snob..
more so irl than in here but i try not to personally judge ppl instead i try to judge the band itself.. if ppl are too attached to them i'll most likely offend them but if not, we just agree to disagree with little snobbery involved, exmp

Pretty much sums up my opinion on this.

Only with hiphop but I'd like to think I'm a lot less critical of other peoples taste in hiphop since I was 10 years ago. Still workin on it.

I used to pride myself on being a music snob, but I've met so many people here and irl friend/musician circles that I'm humbled. There's always someone with cooler taste than me, and always someone I can learn from. In turn, I try to engage and suggest new things to people I know with less calculated tastes.

Not here, for obvious reasons.

IRL, I used to be flabbergasted when I asked someone what kind of music they enjoyed, and they didn't really know. Now, I realize that, just as I don't enthuse over visual art forms, some people don't enthuse over music.

I'm not exactly shopping in the music section at Walmart. So in that case, yes.
