Vote for the Journeys! (Journal Awards)
Last year I ran the very first Journey Awards for Members' journals. All I did though was pick the ones I thought were best in each category, but this year I'd like to make it a little more democratic and inclusive, so I'm asking anyone who wants to or cares to please nominate your favourite journal and/or author.
It shouldn't be a terribly long-winded process (though it might turn out to be) as there are only so many active journals, but the same basic rules apply as for the Members Awards last year: you can nominate up to three people, or journals, in any category and he or she that receives the most votes will, you know, win. All nominations to be sent to me via PM please. Categories this year are: Most Informative Journal: self-explanatory I guess. Which of the journals gives you the most information on the subject about which it is written? Most Entertaining Journal: Not necessarily the funniest, but which journal do you enjoy the most and return to again and again? The next three are pretty much as it says on the tin. Best Writer (Member) Best Researcher (This will probably tie into the Most Informative Journal, but is for the member, not the journal) Best New Journal (Must have been started on or before January 2015) Best Classic Journal (Must be at least two years in existence, counting this one; so earliest start date would be February 2013) Hardest Worked On Journal: What journal is worked on and updated the most, but also not just updated with short entries, YouTubes or one-liners. These have to be proper, decent entries. Freshest Idea for a Journal: what journal tackles a subject nobody else has, or had up to that time? Most Engaging Journal: This is the relaunch of the “Most commented on” award, and refers to a journal that spawns the most interest, debate and of course comment. Most Personal Journal: What journal author lets us into his or her personal world and shares their own experience with us through their writing? Funniest Journal; Can anyone topple Batty this year? Most Improved Journal: Must be no older than one year old, so from February 2014 onwards. Lifetime Achievement Award I'm not doing awards for negative things like “Worst Journal” or “Biggest Flop”, as firstly everybody who works on their journals puts a lot of effort into them, and I don't wish to dismiss anyone's work. Also, the recipient does not want the award and anyway it can inspire or foster a feeling of ill-will and also even revenge from one person or more to another. Let's keep it positive, huh? I'm also open to any other nominations people think I should include, so let me know if you have any ideas. Anyone can vote, whether you have a journal or not, but obviously if you do have a journal you can't vote for that. And if you have more than one, you still can't vote for them. Any of them. Or pay people to. Batty, I'm looking in your direction... I hope to have all this concluded by April, though it may be sooner. I know we had one member last year who disagreed with the whole idea and asked not to be included, and of course his wishes were honoured, even though he would easily have won at least one award. If any journal author feels the same, please let me know, either by PM or posting here, and I'll discount any votes you may get.

Sounds like fun. Good luck counting up all the nominations/votes!

Are you serious or just being pithy, as I need to know if you really do want to be counted in. I'd say the old Dancefloor might garner a few votes...

I disagree, for real. That's why I didn't put my votes in for the MB Awards. I don't want mine voted for anything. It's a journal. Read it, or get the fuck out. Why do we need awards to highlight the fact that (insert journal here) does this (insert award) better than yours? I'm probably gonna get skewered for writing this, but yeah, discount my votes. My journal is there for people to read if they want to. It's not a competition. But, do have fun. I will be following, and its great banter, so yeah.

It's how you express it.
You could have just said 'I'd rather not have mine included thanks' and left it at that. But then you added the thing about not getting any votes which just made you come across as being a bit petty.
