"Feckless Mendicant"

An insult uttered in an issue of Sergio Aragones' Groo the Wanderer.

Frownland 03-05-2015 08:01 AM

I'm very fond of dick nibbler as an insult.

Black Francis 03-31-2015 01:36 PM

I also want to bring back Bully instead of saying 'well done'

Chula Vista 03-31-2015 02:02 PM

'Cheesed off'

Not a single word but come at me.

Heard Nigel Farage say it on the live debate and my old P.E. teacher used to say it when he was raging. Funny as fuck. Gonna start using this

Lisnaholic 04-11-2015 04:28 PM

Yes, "cheesed off" is good. I like the way it indicates that you´re annoyed, but not annoyed enough to swear.

A word I feel sorry for is "fro", which has completely lost its independence and now only appears locked up in the expression "to and fro."

"Fro" has lived on as a name for a hairstyle though. :)

Lisnaholic 04-12-2015 07:08 AM

^ Like " a fro " ? Haha, yes, you´re right Janszoon.
We also still use it as a verb, every time we say "Fro the ball!"

Next word I feel sorry for is "unbeknownst". We use the root, "know" all the time, but "unbeknownst", loaded down with prefixes and suffixes, clanks along sounding as archaic as a suit of armour.

BloodFoxTK 04-12-2015 03:30 PM

Moist.

i find this word to be amusing.

Pet_Sounds 04-12-2015 04:28 PM

"Capital!"

Janszoon 04-12-2015 07:56 PM

"Bazongas". Honestly, I think this one went out of steady rotation sometime in the early 90s.

You mean "gazongas"? Cause I've never heard "bazongas" in my life.

No I mean "bazongas". Clearly you were born too late and completely missed the bazonga boat.

Frownland 04-12-2015 08:04 PM

The bazoonga boat would be a great Latin jazz group name.

Mingia.

Used heavily around where I grew up but never caught on a nationwide scale. Kinda like candlepin bowling and gorton (not the fish sticks - the pork spread)
